Lauren Lassabe Shepherd

Lauren Lassabe Shepherd is a historian of American higher education. She is the host of the American Campus Podcast, author of Resistance from the Right: Conservatives and the Campus Wars (University of North Carolina Press, 2023), and co-editor of the forthcoming edited volume “Decolonizing the Campus” with John R. Legg.
Shepherd has been named by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education as part of its Class of 2024 leading women in the field of higher education. Her work and commentary have been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education, New York Times, BBC News, Sky News, Washington Post, The Atlantic, TIME Magazine, NPR, POLITICO, Slate, Vox, The Nation, Teen Vogue, Jacobin, News Nation, The Hill, The Conversation, Lapham’s Quarterly, and Contingent Magazine.
Shepherd is an instructor in the Justice Studies and Higher Education programs at the University of New Orleans and an IUPUI-Society for US Intellectual History Community Scholar.
In addition to research and writing, she enjoys teaching Pilates and practicing yoga. She lives with her husband and their dogs in South Mississippi.
